4 things to try for Mother’s Day

Virtually all countries and cultures have a special day to celebrate motherhood. Although there are several exceptions, most countries celebrate Mother’s Day in May. This is the last jewellery selling holiday until next fall so you want to make it count. A few good promotions and events can make this a profitable celebration.

Find local partners

The first step is to reach out to other local businesses to share promotional ideas. You’ll want to develop relationships with salons, day spas, restaurants, florists and other places that can help give Mom a special experience. If possible, set up a meeting with all potential promotional partners to brainstorm ideas for a cooperative promotion. On an individual basis, strike the best deals you can that will enable you to include them in your own promotions. Ask them about volume discounts that you can use as value added incentives. Exchange branded promo items or discount coupons to distribute for each other. These new partnerships are useful year round for other promotional events.

Package Deals

Use your new promotional partnerships to create special Mother’s day packages. A variety of packages can be made to suit different price-points. A lower budget package might include a piece of jewellery, a rose, a mani-pedi, a discount spa coupon, and a glass of wine at a local restaurant. A high-end package may have an important jewellery item or items, a full day at the spa, a limo ride to a restaurant, a full dinner, and a bottle of wine. Build any promotional costs and some profit into the price of the package.

Mom’s night out

Self-gifting was a hot trend during the holidays. Keep that trend going with a “Mom’s Night Out” promotion. Tap your local promotional partners to demo their products and services at your store. A salon could send a make-up artist, a spa might give neck and shoulder massages, a local restaurant could bring a sample platter or hold a wine tasting. Give the Moms a discount or add-on with any gift they buy for themselves.

Kid’s Gift-Making Party

Nothing makes a Mother  happier than a gift made by their kids. Set up a workspace stocked with Silver alphabet beads, assorted stone, glass, or wood beads, cords, chains and findings. Help  the kids design something just for Mom. Use the letter beads to spell a name or message and set them apart with other beads, perhaps birthstones. Make sure the kids get a package deal too with free gifts or coupons from your local partners.

Mother’s day is less than 2 months away in most places. Get your promotional partnerships in place. There is enough time to make it happen if you start now.
